Title: Cicada Killer wasp

Contact: Carlyn Iverson

Description: A cicada being carried off by the Cicada Killer wasp. The wasp is very large, hunting cicadas to be used as a food supply for the wasp larvae. The wasp stings the cicada, paralyzing the insect and then carries it to an underground burrow. The cicada is placed into the burrow with a wasp egg that will hatch and then burrow into the cicada for nutrients as it grows.
